Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the middle of the term we have so much to be thankful for.

We are incredibly proud of our students who participated in ASPIRE—their performances were outstanding, and they represented our school with pride and excellence. Congratulations to Xia B, Electra G and Willa T! Yesterday we had 3 Year 6 students attend the Central Region Young Script Writers Day. Well done to Hannah M, Grace T and Electra G for your work and we look forward to hearing about the final production.

On Tuesday we celebrated NAIDOC Week with a special event in the Hall. All classes took part in dance sessions led by Steff Phoenix a local Aboriginal dancer. These sessions provided a meaningful opportunity to honour and learn from First Nations culture. Thank you to Ms Parker for organising this very special day.

Today the students who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist over the coming weeks attended the Parish Sacramental Retreat Day. This is a significant moment in their faith journey, and we thank the staff, parents, and parishioners who worked together to support and prepare them. They had a great day all together.

On Monday we held our first FACE Meeting. Thank you to all who managed to come along. Much appreciation to Stacey Mortimer our School Psychologist for leading the presentation information focused on Child Mental Health. I am very grateful to Stacey and thank her for giving up her time.

Looking ahead, our Book Week Parade will take place on Wednesday, Week 5 – August 20th at 9:10am. This is always a joyful event, and we encourage students to come dressed as their favourite book characters to celebrate the magic of reading. We look forward to seeing the creative costumes and characters on the day.

Later this term, we will celebrate Father’s Day with a Liturgy and Morning Tea to honour the fathers and significant male figures in our St James’ community. Thank you to the staff who are working hard to organise this special event. Thank you to our parents organising the Father’s Day Stall. Funds raised from this stall will go towards the purchase of new Maths measurement equipment.

I’m also pleased to share that, in consultation with our onsite contractors, we will be able to host our annual Grandparents and Family Day on Friday, 19th September. Welcoming so many visitors during a building project requires careful planning, and we are committed to ensuring the day runs smoothly. The celebration will include a Liturgy, Concert, Open Classrooms, and a BBQ Lunch. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff for their commitment to making this event a success. More information to come.

Finally, thank you to all families for your understanding and flexibility as we adapt our events during the build. Your continued support is deeply appreciated and helps us maintain a strong and connected school community.
